Walter Chen was born in Taiwan, 1970. Since 1997 he has lived and worked in Barcelona, Spain. He attended Taiwan’s National University of Arts, where he graduated in Industrial Fine Arts. He was admitted to the Escola Massana where he specialized in Artistic Jewelry design and engraving. He then graduated with a Master’s Degree in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, where he is currently completing his PhD in Fine Arts. His work has been recognized on four occasions by the Enjoia’t Awards of the Foment de les Arts i del Disseny (FAD) and third prize of Joieria D’avantguarda Competition at Altafulla 2008. Walter Chen’s jewelry and artistic objects are imbued with the philosophy and materials of Chinese and Oriental culture, especially paper, bamboo and silk. He draws his inspiration from these forms and shapes. He combines the creator’s spirit with scholarly study, and promotes the art, design and culture of the Orient. He is the author of two books about Chinese painting, both published by Parramón. He has also given numerous lectures about the themes surrounding his work: the processes of artistic creation and design and the relationship between the thought, art and ways of life in Oriental culture. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walter Chen, nacido en Taiwan en 1970. Diplomado en Bellas Artes Industriales en Taiwan. Cursa estudios de CFGS y varios años de cincelado enla Escuela Massana. Licenciado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Barcelona en la especialidad de Restauración. Actualmente efectua estudios de Doctorado en la misma facultad. La carrera de Walter Chen como diseñador incluye cuatro premios del concurso “Enjoia´t”y tercer premio del concurso Joieria D’avantguarda- Altafulla 2008. Siete exposiciones individuales y varias colectivas. Dando conferencias divulgativas sobre diferencias y similitudes entre Oriente y Occidente en diversos Centros. Ha publicado dos libros sobre pintura y caligrafía china. Editorial Parramón.
